Party of Five?

So the week before Easter i was out of commision Monday thru Wednesday. Thursday rolled around and i went back to work but on my break i went straight home and took a nap. Something about sleeping all those hrs a day and then just bouncing back into staying awake didn't sound like a good idea to me!
That afternoon when i went back to work i got a phone call from my mom saying that my sister Rosalee was in the hospital having horrible pains in her lungs and they thought that it might be blood clots in her lungs. That scared the shit out of me!! It turned out later to be plueracy and not blood clots, which i was very happy about. They say that plueracy is VERY painful, but at least you can't die from it like a pulmonary embolism! My mom asked me to go get her boys, James and Jackson, from their daycare as soon as i got out of work.
I went from death bed to mother of 5 in one day. It was insane! I had to rush around the house and child proof it because Jack is a huge pain in the butt who gets into everything. The 5 kids, Andrew 9, Abigail, 5, Alaina, 2, James 3, and Jack 18months, played outside while i baby proofed the house and made dinner. Then it was bath time... wow, that was fun.
Jackson actually went right to sleep at 8pm, thank God! James wanted to watch a movie so he did in Andrew's room with Andrew. The girls, Jason, and i went downstairs to pass out. I was exausted! Having all those kids was a lot of work!
Friday was Good Friday and my mom had the day off of work so she took the boys to daycare and i went to work. Jeremiah had the girls this weekend so i was quite pissy about having Rosalee's boys when i didnt even have my own kids, but there wasn't much i could do about it. My mom picked them up from daycare, which was nice not to have to rush there and get them. They boys really loved playing outside and it wasn't too bad of weather, a little cold maybe, but we had them bundled up in pink mittens and pink hats. It was funny but we didn't have any of their things so there wasn't much else to do about that!
Saturday i had to work so my mom was stuck with them angel boys again. After work i went out to Mulliken to get the girls then we were home by 5 to be with our Party of Five kids again. Being the day before Easter there were a lot of things that needed to be done. My mom was trying to cook all day, which was very challenging with the boys underfoot.
I had 3 dozen eggs that needed to be colored and five eager children just waiting to "help." We started the coloring process around 7pm and it was finally done at 9:30pm. I had to let each child do one thing at a time or else it got too crazy, which it really already was chaotic!! Jack kept grabbing eggs and dropping them. I didn't really let him color any, i just tried to keep him away as best i could. Jason ended up chasing him around most of the time. He wasn't very content with just watching everyone do it! Overall the egg coloring festivities were very fun for the kids, mildly stressful for me, but knowing that the kids loved it made it worth it.
Easter was beautiful weather so we had to have an outdoor egg hunt. Jack was sleeping during it, which was fine with me cuz he is TROUBLE!! My sister Lesa came with her new baby Brandon and the kids had a lot of fun. We wanted to take a pic of allthe kids in their Easter outfits with the new baby but no one dared to wake up Jack so we are having a reinactment of Easter next week.
Rosalee finally came a collected her boys around 5pm... it was the happiest moment of the weekend!! I love my nephews but i was not sad to see them go! Bye-bye, party of five!

In Sickness and in Health

On Sunday night, April 5th, i started to feel a little yucky and that quickly snowballed into sick as a dog, fever, chills, body aches and pains, coughing, stuffy, headache, and overall thinking i just might die! I work a split shift, 7 to 10 and then 2 to 5 and when my alarm woke up i thought, "you can do it... its only 3 hrs.... just try really hard" i could even put my pants on! I called in and went upstairs to a spare bedroom to pass out.
I had no idea what was wrong with me but i knew i didn't like it and wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy! I had Jason drive me to the dr in the afternoon. On the ride there i had a washcloth over my eyes cuz the sun hurt them and i laid back the whole way. The Dr said i had a sinus infection, which i don't recall ever having one of them before. She gave me some antiboitics and i went back home to bed. I slept about 20hrs a day, not exaggerating at all.
Night time sucked the worse, snot would drain into my stomach and i would wake up and puke into the trash can or bowl next to me cuz the snot made me sick to my stomach. I was sick for 3 days and on the 3rd day i went back to the Dr to say "wtf is wrong with me!? Why am i still sick!?" I told the Dr that i would rather give birth than feel that way for 3 days like that ever again! She asked me if i was against a shot and i told her "at this point i would let you cut off my arm if you told me it would make me feel better!" She had the MA give me a shot of something in my butt and the messed up part was an hour later i started to feel human again! I don't really know why they didn't give me the shot on Monday so i wouldn't have had to suffer for three days and miss all that work, but i guess they must have had their reasons!
While i was sick i slept in the spare room a lot and sometime i would sleep on the couch. When i was awake i watched t.v, which i NEVER watch t.v. I watched Will and Grace reruns and a lot of TLC including a few baby stories, medical mystery stuff, and some FREAKY show about that family with 18 and counting kids. INSANE!!
Jason took such good care of me, getting me drinks and medicine and anything i needed. I never thought it was possible for me to love him more, but this illness made me realize how much i love him! In sickness and in health, right?

I have a new Nephew!!!

My sister had her baby! Brandon Nathan Barker was born around 5pm on Monday March 30th, 2009. He weighed 8lbs 10 oz! Big boy!! Lesa had a C section because she had pre ecpampsia. I have yet to meet my new nephew but I hear he looks like my Andrew and like Rosalee's son James. He has a head full of hair! I can't wait to go meet him :)

Road Blocks...

So they say your going to run into obsticals when it comes to taking care of yourself and I have hit a few walls here!! Saturday I worked from 7 to 330 and then I sat at the hospital with my sis Lesa until 5pm waiting on the results of her labwork to decide if she was going to be admitted to start labor or not. I wanted to walk around and stay moving while I was waiting but she was so swollen and sore I felt bad so I just stayed sitting in the lobby with her and Nate and Jason. The results came back and the dr said she could either go upstairs and get induced or come back the next day, Sunday, at 9am. So Lesa chose to go home.
Jason and I left the hospital and we were both starving so we went to Arbys. I had a healthyish sandwich and minimal fries :P Then we went to Mulliken to get the girls. I was starting to feel achy and sick like I was getting a cold. Abby and Lainey were both sickish too, weather or something. We all went home and laid around watching movies. I gave everyone a round of cough medicine and we passed out. I was coughing my head off!! UGH!!
I didn't wake up until 9:30 AM!! Ok, to any normal person that might not seem like I slept in, but I usually get up at 5am on a work day and "sleeping in" is 7am so seeing 930 on the clock was kinda a shocker!! My mom went to a wedding Saturday night and I had told her that i would be her D.D if she needed but I didn't wake up to hear the phone!! I felt bad but she got a ride from someone else. I got up and threw on a jacket and I went to Meijer to get some more cough medicine and took my mom to her car. I got some coffee and felt a little bit better.
Jason and I made banana pancakes for everyone and then we loaded the kids up in the van to go see my grandma Davison because it was her bday. Then we took Lainey back to the house because she was tired and needed a nap.
Jason, Andrew, Abigail, and I went to the Sun theater and saw Coraline for 2 bucks a person. There were only a few other ppl in there and it was cold and rainy/snowyish so we thought what the hay. The movie was a cartoon but it was actually kinda scary!! I was scared anyway!! So we watched the movie and went home. My mom made chicken enchilladas and everyone was coughing again so we did another round of cough syrup and went to bed early.
Monday came and Rose and I were going to go to the gym but Lesa called me from the hospital and asked us to come up there and sit with her. She still did not have any progress and we wanted to come see her so we did. We hung out there for 2 hrs then I went back to work. I was STILL feeling crummy and I think a lot of it had to do with not working out since Friday!! I am not going to give up tho!! These are my road blocks and I am going to go to Plan B, Plan C, Plan D... all the way to Plan Z if I have to!!!

Opinions are like assholes...

Andy Rooney said on '60 Minutes' a few weeks back:

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens.....Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE ?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right 'NOT' to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die i n vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word 'freeze' or 'stop' in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business...

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their inter pretations.

I don't hate the rich I don't pity the poor

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television.. That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right t o keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say 'NO!'

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of 'Political Correctness.' I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be 'African-Americans'? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe . I am proud to be from America and no where else!

And if you don' t like my point of view, tough...

Right on, Andy Rooney !

daily work out journal....

Today was a horrible morning at work, super stressful and not cool at all. My sister almost said she couldn't work out and I didn't have a vehicle so I was almost really bumming!! But she came and we went to the gym. My sis said she has a cold so she didn't really want to work out but she went swimming anyway and i went straght to the eliptical. I was on it for a half an hour and It was awesome. While I was on it there was a woman teaching some sort of a step or kickboxing class, I am not sure which one, but she was SO inspirational. I think her talking the the women who were in her class was actually insipring me to work harder and longer on the eliptical. After that I did a bunch of the weight lifting machines and my arms are very sore!! After that I did 3 sets of 20 crunches... OWEEE!!! I almost die at 15 then I push myself to do the final 5. While I am on the eliptical I strive to make one mile in ten minutes and I couldn't do it any of the 3 times this time, I was at 12 and 13 minutes... I am trying to push myself to get it in 10 minutes and that is my GOAL!! Another one of my goals is to build enough cardio strength to take that step class!! That woman was amazing and the people who were taking the class looked so great!! Another one of my mini goals is TEN POUND LOSS. I will let you know when I get there. I can't wait. I feel great already!! I gotta go to work. Peace out!
